Privacy Notice

Effective date: 2026-08-03

Dr Jonathan Bolon Gastroenterology Inc. (“the practice”) is the responsible party for personal information processed through this website, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What this notice covers

This notice deals with personal information collected through this website. Personal information collected in the course of clinical care (your medical record) is dealt with in the practice’s patient privacy documentation, available from the rooms.

Information collected through this website

The enquiry form collects your name, telephone number, email address and the content of your message. The website does not intentionally collect special personal information, and you are asked not to submit medical information through it. Like most websites, the hosting platform records standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies necessary for it to function. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set.

Purpose of processing

Enquiry information is used solely to respond to your enquiry, to arrange or amend appointments, and to keep a record of that correspondence. It is not used for marketing and is not sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes.

Sharing

Information may be visible to the practice’s website hosting provider (xneelo (Pty) Ltd, South Africa) and to the practice’s email provider (Google Workspace), each acting as a technical operator, and to the practice’s staff who handle enquiries. Enquiry emails are stored in the practice’s Google Workspace mailbox, which is hosted outside South Africa. That transfer is made under an operator agreement (a data processing addendum with standard contractual clauses) that provides protection substantially similar to POPIA, as permitted by section 72. Your information is not sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes.

Security

The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). The practice applies reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access and unlawful processing.

Retention

Enquiry submissions are kept for up to 12 months after our last contact with you about the enquiry, after which they are deleted, unless the enquiry becomes part of a clinical record. Information that becomes part of a clinical record is retained in accordance with HPCSA record-keeping requirements.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to processing, by contacting the Information Officer: Dr Jonathan Bolon, privacy@gi-bolon.com, or the rooms on 010 900 4380. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): www.inforegulator.org.za.

PAIA
